Dear Allen: Allah Bunch of Babies: Toughen Up, Muslims!

Our dear Rep. Allen West.

Note from the editor: In the tradition of “Congressman’s Corner,” Salty Eggs has invited Rep. Allen West to field questions from his South Florida constituents. Until we get a response to our query, we will do our best to answer questions on his behalf, based on what we know of his temperament and politics.

Dear Allen West,

As a former soldier in the U.S. Army, were you surprised that during the Republican National Convention, your party did so little to recognize the sacrifices of our military? In his speech Mitt Romney personally edited out a gesture of respect to the troops. Does that bother you?

S Pilkington
Boynton Beach

Dear Mr. Pilkington,

If American soldiers were so sensitive as to be offended by Romney’s decision to not kiss their ass, then they wouldn’t be very tough soldiers, would they? These are warriors, and as such they wage war, in return for which they are paid a modest wage. For all the “tributes” they get from Democrats, these soldiers all know that the party of Barack Obama treats war as a “last resort,” suggesting that Obama’s ultimate goal is to eliminate wars, which would make soldiers’ jobs obsolete. I do not want to live in this dystopian future. The Republican Party has a long and sacred tradition of sending troops to far-flung countries to kill people in the name of American values. For members of our military, this election comes down to a choice between a job killer (Obama) and a leader who would protect your job as a killer (Romney).

Loyal and steadfast! Lt. Col. (ret) Allen B West

Dear Allen West,

Like everyone, the attacks on American embassies have my nerves on edge. I’ve listened to you and other Republicans criticize the president for his response to the crisis, but I haven’t heard many specifics about what the administration should have done differently. My hunch is that you guys are using these incidents purely to score political points in a close election. It smacks of desperation and given the American lives at stake, plus the complexity of politics in the Middle East, this GOP ploy is totally irresponsible. What do you have to say in your defense?

G Thorne
Stuart

Dear Ms. Thorne,

Your remarks are asinine, naive, inept, incompetent, and borderline ignorant — are you auditioning for Susan Rice’s job as the United States’ Ambassador to the UN? I’ll give you “specifics.” Specifically, The Innocence of Muslims is a brilliant piece of filmmaking, and it’s a shame there isn’t an Academy Award category for inflaming the Muslim world, because it would be a shoo-in. Not only has Obama failed to actively defend the artistic merits of this American-made cinematic masterpiece, he has actually apologized for it! Apparently, the president didn’t get the memo about America being an exceptional City on A Hill. Everything that America makes is awesome, including low-budget films about how the prophet Muhammed was born a bastard and spent his adulthood raping children. The Muslims protesting at our embassies are enemies of free speech, and the appropriate response for an American president is to protect this principle by crushing demonstrators with a show of brutal force.

Loyal and steadfast!  Lt. Col. (ret) Allen B West
